Jan holds a B.F.A. from the University of Tennessee and an M.A.T. from Carson-Newman. Her teaching assignments include social studies/history for junior high and high school and art for K5-12th grade. She has taught at Freedom for five years and is our Ramsey House partnership liaison. Jan was the recipient of the Humanities Tennessee 2014 Award of Recognition for Outstanding Teaching of the Humanities. She is a member of Chilhowee Hills Baptist Church, where she serves as a leader for the Reckon discipleship ministry.

A graduate of Johnson Bible College (now Johnson University), Samantha holds a B.S. and M.A. in holistic education and is a recipient of the 2011 WBIR Tennessee Educator of the Week honor.  Her current teaching assignments include junior high science, pre-algebra, algebra, and keyboarding and high school Bible.  She has taught at Freedom for nine years.  Samantha and her husband, Doug, have two children at Freedom; Caleb is in sixth grade and Hannah is in first grade. They are members of West Towne Christian Church, where Samantha serves as a high school youth sponsor and is an active member of the media and worship team.

An educator for the past 39 years, Steve is in his third year at Freedom Christian Academy. He currently teaches Freshman, Sophomore, and Senior English, as well as the new Senior Apologetics course. Steve is a deacon, adult Bible Fellowship teacher, and Reckon Discipleship leader at Chilhowee Hills Baptist Church. He has missions experience in Nicaragua and Kenya, and his wife, Juanita, serves CHBC as a member of the missions committee. He has twice had the privilege of making a pilgrimage to Israel.

Peggy graduated from U.T. Martin with a Bachelor of Science degree in education and has been a private math tutor for more than 35 years.  This is Peggy’s fourth year of teaching math at Freedom, and her current teaching assignments also include personal finance and life skills.  Peggy is a member of Union Baptist Church, where she serves on the personnel committee and in the nursery and U group.

NewmanSuzanne


Suzanne holds a bachelor’s degree in English education from Carson-Newman and has taught high school English for 13 years. Her teaching assignments at Freedom include English, reading, and science, and she also serves as our guidance counselor.  Suzanne and her husband, Joe, have a son, Joe Carson, who is enrolled in our K3 class.  The family attends New Beginnings Baptist Church.
